Winter Break! WOOO

Ok I stayed up til 5 AM last night/this morning watching Sherlock (IT'S SO GOOD). Good news: I finished the whole series that's out. Bad news: So many typos.

Anyway. I think I'll just start with the week before last. I went to see The Hobbit midnight premiere! I also got a free poster! It was awesome, now Bilbo Baggins is hanging on my door. I also went to see the movie again yesterday with my parents.

Then on the weekend, I didn't work on college essays... I went up to Sequim, WA to have Christmas with my dad's family. Nothing too exciting.

Last week I freaked out for a good 24 hours because of a history test that we so did not have enough time to study for, luckily we didn't have to take the whole test because the holiday assembly was 40 minutes over schedule.

I also had to do the third quarter of my bio IA. And I had to skip stats for it. Again. I'm kind of really annoyed at that.

For Christmas I made all of my friends peppermint hot chocolate mix. I'm also throwing a party, but after Christmas, and just with my ladies. I think I'll do something with the guys for NYE if they're not lame. Guys are usually lame though.

THIS IS THE ETHICAL POST I HAVE TO DO FOR CAS.

That is a political cartoon that I have to talk about in government on Friday. It is a wire coat hanger in the shape of an elephant. It's saying how if Republicans outlaw abortions, then women will have to resort to performing abortions on themselves which is really dangerous (also gross).

So hmm... Ethics. I think women should have the right to do whatever they want to their own bodies and it shouldn't be up to a bunch of old white guys who would never have to experience unplanned pregnancy or whatever. It should especially be legal in cases of rape and incest and when the mother's life is in danger because if it's not that is so ridiculously unfair to women I can't even fathom it.

I think that was ethic-y enough.

I might go buy a fish today!! I'm going to name her Lucy I think.

DONE WITH MY E.E. FOREVER!!!!

WOOOOOHOOOOOOOO!!!!! I printed out thirty pages at my house though, so my dad wasn't happy.

Now I have to go read Hamlet. I hate Shakespeare. I just want to finish the other book I'm reading so I can read The Hobbit.

I also turned in 1/4th of my Bio IA today, but it was just a draft. IB takes up so much paper.

Hmmmm. What else, oh, I still need to write my UO essay that I haven't even started... I'll do that this weekend hopefully. I only have a month left. Maybe I'll finish editing mt OSU essays after I read Hamlet... Maybe.

Today my history teacher said he would do Rasputin... If he was a noblewoman in 19-20th century Russia.

(Hopefully) Awesome Stuff

Well, I just had a week off for Thanksgiving and I worked on college essays and applications. I didn't go Black Friday shopping. I did, however, eat three Thanksgiving dinners...

The UW application is due on Saturday... Eek! I think I'll be glad to be done with it though.

I got my EE back and have a week to edit it and turn in the final draft, I just have to add 500 words, should be okay.

For our new CAS project, we're teaming up with an elementary school here officially. We're going to have school supply drives and do the recycling presentations still.

We're reading Hamlet in English. I hate Shakespeare. In the before school bio things we're still working on our IA's and no one has any idea what we're supposed to do. Government is easy, but I have an essay due soon. History is okay, we have a DBQ teat this week and I have nooooo idea what is going on because the week before last we had a substitute that had noooooo idea what was going on.

Now, fun stuff! I'm going to see The Hobbit on the 14th at midnight with my boyfriend. On the 9th I'm going to do an archery thing with three of my friends, I hope I don't suck at it, but I'm nervous. Also, for the record I did not start an interest in archery because of The Hunger Games, I have liked archery since I was, like, ten and saw Narnia, so THERE.

So all of my CAS Projects are Failing.

I am so frustrated. Green Team failed because Brad was being too flaky and it was unrealistic anyway. So now Rei and I are trying to figure out something to do with Metzger Elementary, but they haven't been replying to our emails or picking up their phones. My short film is failing because everyone is too busy to help me with it, but I might be able to save it still. Hopefully.

On the bright side I've read two books just to read them.

Oh! I went to OSU on Saturday! It was alright. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. The campus was pretty, but I don't really see myself going there. There were a lot of attractive engineering students though... Haha. I'm still going to apply.

I need to finish one more UW essay and my UO essay and then I'll be done. I hate college essays so much.

I FINISHED A COLLEGE ESSAY!

It's the main one for UW. I have to do another short one for them and then I have to write one more for UO and then I think I'm done! This is so scary/exciting!!

Yesterday in history, Mr. Savage told us our homework was to marry someone rich. I don't think any highschoolers are rich...

Also I just found a website called Goodreads and it is so amazing and useful. My profile is: http://www.goodreads.com/emigirly33

I am getting so frustrated by the Green Team. I don't know if we'll actually be able to go down to Mississippi, and to be honest I'd kind of be fine with that.I need to talk to my co-president though, if we just send a check or mailed down school supplies or something... sigh. It just seems so unrealistic right now and Brad, the guy in college who did the trip before, has been really flaky and not reliable. He's supposed to be the one planning the actual trip and he hasn't done anything. Ugh.

At least I made brownies today.

I'm going to make the short film that I wrote. I'll post it on here when we finish!! I'm excited about this too!

What is a Life?

I feel like I won't know the answer to that question until I turn in all of my college applications. I have to complete all of those, work on and English essay, and do a research paper for economics. The economics thing should be pretty easy though. Oh, also I have to do CAS proposals.

I might be making a short film if I have time too. I wrote it. It's pretty good for a first time, not going to lie haha. Hopefully I'll be able to make it.

Last night I volunteered at Halloween rooms for French Club. It kind of sucked because I'm not really friends with anyone in French Club, and everybody except me and one other person left an hour before we could close. After that I went home and ate candy.

UW TODAYYYY

So today I woke up at 6 and drove to Seattle. I went to an honors program meeting and the honors at UW is kind of not for me. But the rest of the university is amazing. The business school is wonderful. I got a sweatshirt.

Now I just have to decide if it's worth the extra money.

Costume

I literally spent 18 hours working on history this weekend between my E.E. and my outlines for the history test. I've typed so much I have to spell check every three words.

On the Plus side I finished my Halloween costume!

I made the bow, arrows, and quiver myself! That took another 4 hours out of my weekend though. It was worth it they look so cool.

Last week of XC ever.

Worst Weekend.

That title may be a little bit of an exaggeration... But I do have a lot of homework. I have to write six history outlines, do two Newshours, finish my E.E., do English homework, write a TOK essay, and work on my IA. It's not even like I procrastinated (Well I might have on the E.E. a little bit, but I'm almost done with that anyway so it should only take an hour or so to do.)! I hate weeks like this when I have a lot to do in every class.

On a positive note, I'm going to a corn maze with my friends tonight! Wooohoo.

Duck Preview Day

Today I went to the preview day at UO. It was okay I guess. If I go there I'm going to do the honors college because the classes are only 19 people and they get to stay in the residence hall that was just finished this year and is SO FREAKING COOL. That is if I get into the honors college. I think UO is my second choice behind UW. I'm going to UW in two weeks and then to OSU two weeks after that. I just want to study abroad and not be in a huge pile of debt after college so...

Senior Homecoming!

So we kind of killed at the football game yesterday, 41-0. It was so fun!

The dance is tonight and I'm going to Olive Garden with my boyfriend before (Unlimited soup and bread sticks for the win!!), then we're going to go see The Perks of Being a Wallflower after!

My first English essay is due on Monday.

MY LAST HOME XC MEET IS ON WEDNESDAY. I don't know if I'm sad or happy...

I still haven't started my college essays.

My senior picture proofs came in. (See post below.)

Edit:

Here's a picture from Homecoming! It was fun!

FREAKING OUT A LITTLE.

THE APPLICATION FOR UW IS OPEN AND KGJFAGHKFJHGAKJDFHGAD. I've completed it up to the writing section so far, but I cannot write about myself! And I don't think I have and "character defining moments" to write about. okokokokokokok. Calm, I'm calm. I just need to think of something over the next week. At least the essays are all less than 650 words. Okay, I'm good.

I have my senior pictures on Tuesday. It's homecoming week.

Okay, bye.

Busy, Busy, Busy

I've had so much homework every night, so it's hard to find time to write a blog post. Right now I'm actually blogging and doing my TOK journal... (Also listening to One Direction, but don't tell anyone that.)

Every night for English we have to analyze two poems by Sylvia Plath and find patterns in them. How can someone have written so many poems?! The class is actually pretty nice though, not too hard yet. Although, we do get our first essay assigned tomorrow, so I may have spoken too soon.

In history we had a debate today about who was at fault for WWI. I was on the Serbian team. Austria-Hungary lost. History this year isn't as fun as last year, the note taking is a lot less interactive and I like when we did readings every night before so we knew the information we were discussing in class before hand. I'm not complaining about less homework though. Also, SO MANY POWERPOINTS.

I have my first bio test on Monday, I think I'm pretty prepared for it, plus this year we can retake every single test for the whole first semester, so that's helpful. The IB study sessions are on Wednesdays at 7 in the morning, but I don't really have to go yet because they are just reviewing stuff that I haven't gone over yet because I'm in bio 1.

Econ is still easy. Current events are so fun. I need to go study for that I think because our team is up playing the other best team in our class tomorrow! (One Direction switched to Ed Sheeran, which is much more acceptable for public admittance.)

Divination

I figured out last night that if I was Hermione then TOK would be Divination. If I ever storm out of a class it will be TOK. My friend (who took it last year) says I don't like it because I'm looking for a definite answer and there is no definite answer. WHY CAN'T THERE BE A DEFINITE ANSWER? Ugh.

Anyway, I've had a lot of homework and it's way more confusing than last year because all of my classes are every other day except for Econ. Right now in English, we're studying poetry which I like waaaaay better than novels because all of the evidence you need for an argument is right in front of you and you don't have to look for it. We get a different poem to analyze every night though. We have a weekly journal in TOK and math homework every night. So far we've only had history homework one night, so that's good.

I have a headache so I'm going to go read now. Ha. Ha.

Last First Day

Senior sunrise was lame.

Here's my schedule!

A days:
1) IB Bio 1
2) PSU Statistics
3) IB Modern World History
LUNCH (With all f my guy friends.)
4) Economics

B days:
1) IB Senior English
2) IB Theory of Knowledge
LUNCH (I don't know who I have it with yet because I haven't done it.)
3) IB French 7 (independent study)
4) Economics

At the end of the quarter, Economics gets switched for Government. Next semester everything stays the same except Government/Econ changes into IB Psych 2.

I had homework in math and history tonight, but the math was super easy. In history we have to start doing an IA that we actually turn in to IB and I have to have a topic by Tuesday. I am going to be so done with history essays by the end of the semester.

I am not super excited for TOK tomorrow, but I should probably get sleep anyways.

LINK Day

Today was the freshmen's first day, super exciting! We were there from 7 to 3. I'm tired.

Tomorrow is Senior Sunrise, apparently we get doughnuts.

I LOVE where my locker is, My girl friends are on one side and my guy friends are on the other, it's perfect!

We need to write a proposal to turn our Mississippi trip into a CAS project. It should be pretty easy I think, I may be doing all of the proposals wrong though. I better go look into that.

Last First XC Meet

I'm going to have so many lasts this year! It kind of makes me sad. Anyway, my last first XC meet was at Wilsonville and it was a night meet so I didn't run until 9:40 PM, but I still PRed by 16 seconds!! It was only a 3k though, the rest of the meets this year are 5ks. We got to the school at 4 and had to stay there until 11. It kind of sucked because you only run for 15 minutes out of the 7 hours that you're there, but I got free purple shoelaces so it was okay.

I had to miss the first football game for the meet. We won.

I have to go through 2 sources for history before I start building my LEGO Diagon Alley that my family got me for my birthday... Sigh, life is so hard.

Sunday, August 26, 2012

My friends know me so well.

So yesterday was my birthday and I had a sleepover with 9 other girls and we went out to Chinese food and ran around my neighborhood and played Apples to Apples for two hours. It was so much fun!

Also... One of my friends got me a life-size stand up of Ron Weasley!!!!! gjalkghalkjhglaierhg so perfect.

My other friend who is an AMAZING artist, made me a wand, and my card was the Marauder's Map! Even the bag was cool!

I also got a necklace with a quote from Dumbledore in it which is AWESOME.

My boyfriend got me this really cute ring (the heart one):

I'm also getting custom designed Harry Potter shoes from my other friend, but they're not finished yet! I have awesome friends.

Next week is when everything starts I guess. I have my first XC meet on Friday and LINK training on Tuesday. The back to school day is on Thursday I think. Woot woot.

School is Starting Before School Even Starts!

Cross country starts up tomorrow bright and early at 8:15 AM.

I've gone through 4 out of my 12 sources for my E.E. Oh my gosh they take sooooo long to get through.

I've read 2.5 out of four of the Summer reading books for English. I probably won't even read the last one because it's super long and looks boring.

I'm going to turn in my application for volunteering at the Chinese Garden on Wednesday for CAS.

Tomorrow I'm meeting with my LINK group to get in touch with our group of Freshmen and then we're meeting the Freshies at Starbucks on Thursday if any of them show up.

I do have exciting news though! My friend, Rei, and I are the new heads of a group called the Oregon Green Team and we're going to fundraise so we can go to a school in McComb, Mississippi during spring break and talk to the kids about recycling. We're also going to bring them new school supplies because their school doesn't have very much money at all. I think this will be our CAS project thing, and I'm super excited because it's going to be a really cool experience. Except apparently we have to speak in front of the City Council and I can't do that. At all. So we'll just find some really good speechies to come with us.

Also my birthday is soon! Woot woot!

SAT and IB Scores

I got my IB scores today! I got a 4 in psych (better than what I thought I did) and a 6 in math! So they balance out! I also got my SAT score a while ago, but I only did... meh. 1770.

Driver's Ed has been taking up a lot of my time, but I'm going to start volunteering at the Chinese Garden once it's over and I'm home from vacation. I've been re-reading the Harry Potter books and watching the movies. I'm on the last one now and then I can start my English assignment... Yay.

Junior Year Comes to a Close.

I am officially a senior. I am at the top of the pyramid.

This year was amazing. All of my teachers were great and supportive. My classes were challenging, but they were so rewarding. I learned so much. Although I am happy that I have time to read some books that I actually find interesting, I am going to miss seeing people every day and eating lunch with my friends. I'm not going to miss waking up early.

This year I also really solidified my friend group. I have a great group of friends who I know I will miss terribly when I start college, but for now I'm happy to have them.

So many people made this year amazing (This sounds like a speech at the Oscars, I know.). Especially Mlle, Mrs. Townzen, Mr. Caro, Mr. Carlisle, Brandon, Alex, and Tyler. You all helped me survive junior year and the IB classes and exams that came with it and for that I thank you!

I bought a new notebook recently. The thing about buying a new notebook is that I never start writing in it immediately, I have to think about what I'm going to put in it. This particular notebook I've decided to put haikus in. It sounds dumb, but I like haikus. You have to make every word count. I am going to make senior year count.

Finals!

I took my math final today and got an 85 which means I got an A in the class and I got an A in bio and in French. My English and history grades are the only things that need to be finalized. I have my history final tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure I'll get a B in the class, actually I'm positive I will. In English right now I have an 89.5 but I did the extra credit and my teacher hasn't finished entering in all of the grades yet.

I'll post when I get my SAT scores and my IB exam scores, and probably when I do CAS hours. I have to take drivers ed this summer which I am not looking forward to, but I get to go to Hawaii, so that's cool.

Going to go study now because apparently the final is hard. Get ready for a sentimental post tomorrow!

IOP OVER!

I got a 93 on my IOP!!!!! That means I have a guranteed A in English!!! Ahhhhhhh!!!! Also, Mrs. Towwnzen asked to have a copy of my powerpoint with the video clips to use as an example and said she was really proud of my analysis!! Ok that's it.

One More Week

It was the seniors last day today. It was actually sad this year because I'm friends with a lot of them.

It doesn't feel like there's only a week left because I still have a lot to do. Actually, now that I think about it, I don't have that much, it's just that my IOP is going to hang over my head and make everything seem ten times harder until it's over.

I talked to my IB coordinator today about CAS, I really need to start working on the service thing, but he said it has to be "out of your comfort zone" and I can't really think of anything out of my comfort zone except hospitals and I'm pretty sure those don't take volunteers. He absolutely LOVED my blog though, I don't know why, but he said I could make it international and have that requirement fulfilled.

I think that's all I have to say, except I have a math final and a history final next week. Also, all of the seniors won't be in bio and there's only six juniors. So we don't really know what we're going to do after Friday. I'm spending all of Friday practicing my IOP.

Extended Essay Stuff

So I came up with a research question with my history teacher: "To what extent was JFK's foreign policy toward the Soviet Union successful during the Cuban Missile Crisis?"

Pretty good, huh? I need to have a bibliography by September 7, a rough draft by October 24, and the final draft is due by November 26. That's 5 months, I better have a kick butt paper.

I have two presentation this week in English, one group one where we present poetry with motions, and my IOP. I HATE the motions with the poetry, okay that's a little bit of an exaggeration, it's just really cheesy. Mrs. Townzen said our group was doing pretty well though, we're just being too monotone when we're trying to read the words in synch. I think my IOP will be okay. As long as I got a 100 on my world lit I should be fine.

Okay, I'm going to go do my history reading before I lose all motivation.

SAT

I took the SAT today. That was the worst waste of time test ever. I HAD TO WAKE UP AT 6:30 AM ON A SATURDAY. Aside from that, there was so much math and it was so long and I hated it. Just so you know I'm not just saying that cause it's a long test, I liked the ACT. Now I have to stay up til like 12 tonight because of a parade... Yippee.

Wanderlust

I want to travel! This has nothing to do with school. I'm reading a book, which is a thing I do sometimes, and the main character is Nicholas Flamel. I went to the author's website (which is also a thing I do apparently) and saw that Nicholas Flamel's house is still standing and it is a restaurant and I want to go so badly! I also kind of want to go to the catacombs, but slightly less so because they're creepy. I want to go to France so badly. More than anywhere else. I'm totally doing an exchange trip during college.

I should make a list of places where I want to go. Specific places, not just countries. I should finish my book first.

3 weeks left

I had school off today! That means four day week. I have 3 weeks until I am officially a senior. I don't know if I'm happy or scared. That's a lie, I'm happy.

I spent all weekend working on English because we have an IB essay that's due tomorrow. I also have an IB presentation that's due on the 8th so I worked on that too.

I'm supposed to meet the IB coordinator about CAS this week and pick an EE topic. I also have two biology tests and I get to write an extra credit history paper to try and get from a B to an A.

I just want to sleep.

-Emily

Oh, I also got into LINK which I know counts as volunteering for CAS and it is a "year long commitment" and a group thing, but i don't know if it can count as all of those things, or just one. I'll have to ask.

Standardized Testing

I got my ACT scores back and I got a 31!!! woooo! I'm so happy! It means I would be in the top 25% of the people applying to UW! Happy happy happy!

I also registered for the SAT and I'm taking it June 2nd.

Track is over too. And today in English I got my IOP proposal back and it had an "excellent" on it! Yay!!

Also  am applying to be a LINK leader because I have no official leadership stuff under my belt, and it's volunteering for CAS... Maybe I can make it creativity too?

Nerves.

I had the first part of the IB Psychology test today and I was so nervous I only ate some almonds and cheese and then I didn't eat after because I had a track meet and I didn't want to throw up, so by the time I ran I was dying. The test wasn't as bad as I expected, luckily I got questions that I know how to answer.

Tomorrow is psych in the morning for an hour starting at 8 and then math for 1.5 hours starting at 12. My friends (who are also taking both tests) and I are going out to brunch after the psych test.

I get to go to the Rotary banquet this Sunday because apparently I'm and "outstanding student in French." Oh yeah.

Prom!

Prom was yesterday at the Portland Art Museum. The theme was Hollywood. It was fun, my boyfriend and I went to Pastini Pastaria for dinner before and then after we went and bought junk food and watched Forrest Gump.

Pictures!!

And IB tests are next week and I'm still not ready for the psych one. Blaahhhh. Oh well.

This is My Procrastination.

First day of the new quarter! Last quarter of Junior year. All the teachers tell the seniors not to get senioritis, which is good advice third quarter, but I think when fourth quarter comes around everybody in every grade has some kind of why-can't-school-be-over-now-itis. I definitely do.

In English we are going to read Antigone but it's the version by the French guy who has a funny last name. We did read Oedipus the King for homework tonight though. I looove Greek stuff so much! I find it fascinating. Except I don't like how all of the names are spelled.

IB tests are so close. I've been putting off Psychology because it's hard and there's stuff you have to learn outside of class and I'm busy. Also I'm not expecting to do well anyway. I hope I can retake it next year if I do really really bad. If I get a 3 I'll be fine though. Math should be a breeze.

I need to sign up for the SAT soon. That's scary.

So I kind of hate track, well I don't hate running, I just hate everything else about it, but it keeps me in shape and is something to do not involving education. Today 'd been getting these weird stabbing feelings in my chest under my sternum and around my heart and then I told my coach because running made it hurt more and she asked if I have asthma (No.) and then she just shrugged and it hurt like hell. Sigh. It doesn't hurt now though.

I bought prom tickets today! It's going to be at the Portland Art Museum which should be fun. Prom is expensive.

Going to go work on some of that psych stuff now!

College Application News!

Woooooooooooooo! I'm so excited! UW sent a mailing out that had all of the dates for freshmen applicants on it and the essay topics are available on August 1! Then application is October 1 through December 1.

ACT testing is on the 24th then all of my IB tests are May 3rd and 4th. Yaaay.

The quarter ended on Thursday but none of my grades are finalized so yeah.

Next week is "Tiger Pride Week" where they have random ice cream parties and stuff for good students. I think the only on I'll be going to is the 3.75 GPA or higher. Super exciting.

Spring Break is Almost Over

I went to Arizona and stayed with my mom's cousin. I got sunburned on the second day. It was sad. We went on a hike to see petroglyphs, which were cool, and we went to the missile silo from the Cold War in Tuscon, which was boring (mostly because the tour guide was not very enthusiastic and it was hot). We also went to a mission that was built in the 1700s which was cool because they were selling delicious Indian fry bread outside. I went to an art fair on the ASU campus too, I bought a ring that is made out of oyster forks!

Petroglyphs!
The mission
FOOOOD.
Fork ring!

In English before the break we got assigned group projects for our dystopian novels (mine is 1984). It's an art project. Woo hoo. So today I have to finish reading and tabbing and write a blog post.

Also, I have my mind firmly set on going to UW. So that's new...

Why can't spring break be two weeks?!?

Track Meets Suck

Hi! I have my first track meet this Thursday. Thursday is also the day before an essay is due in English and the day I'm going to the MIDNIGHT PREMIERE OF THE HUNGER GAMES!!!!! JHFKJDAHGLJHALFGHALGJHAL I'M SO EXCITED. Not as excited as I was for Harry Potter, but still. So yeah. I don't know how much school I'll be going to on Friday, but I have to go to English at least to turn in my essay. My parents will probably make me go all day.

So yeah, the track meet will probably be rainy and freezing, but I'm planning on running the 1500 because I want to leave ASAP to work on my essay and any other homework that is due on Friday before I go to the movie.

My parents bought a "family laptop" (I named it Augustus.) even though they both have iPads and my dad has a desktop computer and my mom has a work laptop, so it's basically my laptop that I have to occasionally share with my sister I suppose. But it's still awesome!

my English teacher hasn't given us back our first essay yet, which kind of makes me mad because I'd like to see what I did wrong on that one so I don't make the same mistakes on the one that's due on Friday.

I Don't Know.

I don't know if I want to do full IB. The people in the career center say that the only schools who care if you actually get the diploma are Ivy League, and I don't want to go to and Ivy League school. They say the state universities usually just care that you took challenging classes. I'm already locked in to testing this year. I wonder when you get the scores back because if I do really poorly in psychology then I probably won't do full IB, I don't know. The only thing I really want from it is the purple hood haha, just kidding.

But seriously, if the colleges that I want to get into don't care if you get the full diploma or not then I probably won't do it.

I get my first English essay back on Monday! I'm scared! At least I can rewrite it if I don't do well.

The limo was fun last night.

I am sore.

Ow. Not running for two months before track was a baaaaad idea. On the bright side I think I'm kicking this English essay's butt! Although I haven't talked to my teacher about it yet... I hope she doesn't tear it apart.

I had a math test today which I think I did fine on. I might have a bio test tomorrow, but you never know with my teacher.

First psych IB study session is after school on Thursday, yay IB exams.

I'm going to go apply icy hot to both of my legs now, bye!

Geeking Out.

It just took me an hour to do the history reading for tonight because at the very beginning it has the poem about the statue of liberty with an allusion to a Greek statue that I remembered reading about somewhere and it said the name of the statue in the footnotes (The Colossus of Rhodes), so I googled it and it was one of the seven wonders of the ancient world and that's where I got way off track.
The seven wonders are:

The Colossus of Rhodes
The Great Pyramid of Giza
The Hanging Gardens of Babylon
The Lighthouse of Alexandria
The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus
The Statue of Zeus at Olympia
The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus

You should know that I loveloveLOVE Greek, Roman, and Egyptian mythology and that's what most of the wonders were about (I alos like cool old places, so that got the rest of them.)! So I spent a good half an hour wikipedia-ing them all and becoming quite sad when I remembered the Great Pyramid is the only one left. I would have loved to visit all of them! Especially the temple of Artemis and the Statue of Zeus and the Colossus. Sigh. I'm not completely out of hope though because there are still the 7 new wonders of the world! (The wonders of the modern world are boring.) The new ones are:

Chichen Itza, Mexico - Mayan City
Christ Redeemer, Brazil - Large Statue
The Great Wall, China
Machu Picchu, Peru
Petra, Jordan - Ancient City
The Roman Colosseum, Italy
The Taj Mahal, India

I've been to the Great Wall, but now I want to go to all of the other places! Top 3: Roman Colosseum, Macchu Picchu, and a tie between Chichen Itza, Mexico and Petra, Jordan.

See, this connects to school because me history reading caused this geekery.

So English is a little better. I think the teacher is a little unorganized and she was gone for half of the first ten days, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of things pretty soon. We get our first essay assigned on Friday, I'm a little nervous, but my teacher told us it's supposed to be hard. Great.

Oh yeah, track starts on Monday I have only run three times since XC, but I've been stretching and doing ab workouts and stuff. I'm still going to suck though haha.

Going to go think about traveling and wonders of the world instead of English now!

GAH ENGLISH GAH

Ok, I need to vent about English and my family and why I need my own laptop.

1. English- Ok we had a substitute on the second day of school and he told us our homework so I went home and did it and then my teacher posted on the blog at 8:30 at night a different assignment that is due tomorrow. And I had already done the assignment that the sub had given us so I had to delete it and do a completely different assignment. Definitely a little pissed. Also the class just stresses me out. I don't know why but every time I'm in it or I think about it my brain just starts freaking out and I can't think about anything else and then I get really emotional and that is not fun for anyone.

2. My family/why I need a computer of my own- So we have a desktop computer and my mom has a laptop for work. The problem with the desktop computer is that it is in the room with the TV, and it is next to the kitchen so everyone is in the room with the computer and I can't concentrate at all. There is also a 2 hour time limit that my dad set on it for me (because he is crazy), and I can't get on it past 8 PM. This is a problem because my English teacher just posted the homework at 8:30 PM. So that leaves my mom's laptop which I don't always have access to especially when she is on business trips and stuff like that, or when she has to do her own work. If I had my own laptop I'd be able to go into my room and focus without distractions, be able to manage my own time without the added stress of not having time on the computer, and it would be so much easier to do all of my projects and stuff especially since my dad is super anal about his electronics. So that is why it would be beneficial for me to own my own laptop.

New Semester

It's a new semester which means I switch psych for English and independent study for an actual french class. I got all A's except for a B in bio which was an 88.9. Sigh. So close.

Apparently IB Jr. English is the hardest class ever and I was really nervous, I was shaking when I sat down. I have a small class (23 people) which is good. The teacher seems to think everyone is scared of her, which isn't true, everyone is just scared of the class.

Going to go work on homework. How am I supposed to find a visual representation of motivation?

Finals Week and Awesomeness

So it's finals week this week which means I get half of Thursday and Friday off.

In much more exciting news, I WENT TO THE TOUR DE NERDFIGHTING AND IT WAS AWESOME. I got John greens new book and he signed it and another one of his books and Hank signed my program and a grapefruit and we had a conversation that went like this:

John Green: Can I ask you something?
Me: Sure.
Him: How old are you?
Me: Uhhh... 16. Haha took me a second.
Him: It would take me a second too. (He said something else but I was too stunned to hear.)
And then I walked away and I was shaking and it was amazing and I don't know why I was so starstruck, but they were really cool and now I want to read the book but I have to study for history (Darn you, Mr. Carlisle.).
 Oh, here's some pictures!

Happy Post!

So I have realized this is a highly negative blog. Maybe because it has to do with school haha just kidding not everything about school is negative. Well, my point it that I'm going to post one happy post that doesn't have to do with school every month. So here goes.

Last weekend I drove a 47 year old VW Beetle... Into a bush. So, I'd never driven a manual car before and my friend was like, "Do you want to drive my car?" (We were in an empty parking lot, just to be clear that this wasn't on the road.) So I agreed, but I warned him I'd never driven a manual and he assured me I'd be fine. However, he did not tell me not to take my foot all the way off of the clutch... Yep. It was funny but I felt bad because he loves his car. I did warn him though. :)

That was a fun happy post!

The Future Sucks.

Well trying to plan the future sucks. I signed up for a drawing class at PCC, but I don't know if I want to take it. I haven't paid yet, so I can drop out if I want. I was thinking and I don't think I'm creative enough to major in apparel design. So marketing it is I guess. For now. I change my mind too much. It's annoying because every time I change my mind I change all of the things I've started planning in my head. maybe I'll just stop planning, but that doesn't seem like a good idea either because then I have no idea what I'm doing. Hmmm.

I have a psych test on Wednesday. I hate psych tests. WHY IS THIS SO NEGATIVE?!?! Probably because I have a headache and I'm tired.

History IA is OVER!!

I got a 97%!! Yes! I only missed 5 points overall, I'm really pleased with my score, but I still barely have a 90% overall in history. If I do well on the next two tests I should be able to keep an A though.

My psych IA is due on Friday and I don't think I'll do very well on it. I know it's not good to say that because then I will do poorly, or whatever, but psych is the hardest class I have ever taken and sometimes I feel like I just don't understand. Oh well, I only have to be super worried about editing it for IB and the IB test.

I got a B on the bio test I took before the break. It was an 85% so I'm ok, I still have 1n 89%.

I'm going to start drawing classes on the 14th at PCC. Yep. I want to work at Nike so bad, but I just realized I'm not really awesome at any skill except being organized. I do like running and stuff, but I read they like people who LOVE athletics... I guess that means I'll be training super hard in track and actually working out when it ends... This is getting kind of confusing, I think I'll just end it now.
